News & Info April
3, 2006:
Hey Family and Friends,
Hope everyone had a
great weekend! We sure did!
For those of you who
didn't make the Waterin' Hole's 9th Anniversary
Party on Sunday, I got to tell you, you missed out
on a lot of great entertainment! Here was the
line-up: Shelly King and her Band, Loyd Bonham Band,
Sol Patch, Barb & Kevin of The Cosmic Dust Devils,
and Someone Like You!
Fun was had by all
with Shelly starting things off at 3pm. She had her
son, who is only 19 months old,
on the drums pounding out tasteful rhythms. This kid
was amazing and a natural! He kept up well, and kept
nodding his head in time while his mother and the
band played a cool blues rhythm. He even had his own
kit set up right next to his Dad, Perry, throughout
their set. We didn't get to talk to him much or get
his autograph because it was nap time soon after
they finished playing! Bummer. But I trust we will
see more of him in the near future!
After a burning set by
Loyd Bonham's band, we were up next. Now, we weren't
sure what to expect when we got there, so we didn't
have the whole band with us, just Wilson on bass.
Turk was pulling his hair out and lost somewhere in
his studio, and Tom was somewhere in a tropical
paradise, sipping cool margaritas and digging his
toes in the sand. No worry though. Perry, Shelly's
husband, was kind enough to sit in with us on drums
and he fit right in the pocket. Also, "Drywall Dave"
sat in on our blues numbers and played a bitchin'
harp and electric violin (after the other bands
heard him, he was asked if he would play with them
during their sets)! We did about 4 of our originals
to be included on our debut album ( we did "Left To
Be Found" for you guys, Bob!), and then fell into a
couple of covers. The crowd was so into it by this
time and it only fueled our fire!
The beer was flowing
and we mingled while enjoying the free bar-b-que and
grub made excellent by Damien of Big Earl's Bar-B-Que!
Everyone that played that day was on and sounded
terrific! Thanks to Shelly and her band for
providing all of the equipment! The turnout was
great and what a party it was! We made lots of new
friends!
This Weekend
We will be at the
Southway Pub on Friday April 7th. Show starts at
8:30. Come out and get your soul patched!
Also, we have added
some new dates to the schedule. We are working out
bookings with the Guadalupe River Club and the
Nautilus Beach Bar for the next couple of
months. And as soon as we know, we'll have them
posted. Also, be sure to catch us out on the outdoor
patio at Chili's on May 6th. Check our schedule at
www.solpatchband.com for all updated info.
Last, but not least,
we have posted a demo of our new, original song
called, "Dime Mi Amore" on our website. Go to the
Media page to download and listen. This song,
were're very proud of and it just might be our first
single when the album's finished. Turk wanted me to
remind you that it's just a demo version and was
recorded live and edited in Studio Gazelle. So, go
have a listen and enjoy! You may leave any comments
in our guestbook.
Well friends, all good
things must come to an end, but something new always
grows out of something old! Be sure to check our
website for all things upcoming. Also, pick up your
copy of The M.Y.T.H. magazine if you haven't already
done so. Our very own Bryan, band leader and
soul-stirring extrodinare, has his own article
called The Gear Box in
which he reviews different musical equipment for the
M.Y.T.H. Lots of good info in this month's issue.
So, with that, take
care, God Bless, and we'll catch you all on the
flip-side!
