FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE
Mary Cutrufello is
the featured performer at the October 17, Texas Music Coffeehouse at
Schreiner University. Celebrating Black Poetry Day, Mary brings
songs from a new album recorded in Room 223 of the Goodlettsville,
Tennessee Motel 6. Released August 6, this album is a raw document
of one woman coming to terms with both her past and its place in her
future. Songs from the 6 is the acoustic release of a roots rocker,
a woman who wasn’t afraid to study at Yale.
“Stark and slightly
imperfect, “Songs” is the most direct line into the guitar-slinging
singer’songwriter whom Rolling Stone called ‘the future of heartland
rock’ and Interview proclaimed, “Rock’s New Boss,’” explained one
critic.
The Texas Music
Coffeehouse is sponsored by the Texas Heritage Music Foundation and
Schreiner University Student Activities. The evening will begin in
the Cailloux Center Snack Bar at 7:00 with reading from Sigma Tau
Delta (English Honors Society) celebrating black poets. After an
open mike, Mary Cutrufello will take the stage at 8:00 p.m.
The community is
invited at no charge. Come enjoy the coffee and cookies. Eat at the
snack bar. Lucy Van Goethem and Chris Campbell will emcee the
evening. Chris Caldwell will host Mary at the 2:00 literature class
at Schreiner. Go online at
