"Ely" by Clayton Hudson

Friday September 29th Joe Ely played to a full house at City Limits in Stephenville, Texas, with Rob Roy Parnell opening up the show with music from his new Jacksboro Highway. Ely put on his high energy show like only he can do and has been doing for over 20 years .Joe played all his standards like "Me and Billy the Kid,"  "Nacho Mama," "All Just to Get to You," and my personal favorite, by Tom Russell, "Gallo del Ceilo." Ely also did his version of Robert Earl Keen's "The Road Goes on Forever," which drove the crowd nuts. Guitarist Jesse Taylor took over lead vocals to cover Billy Joe Shaver's "I've Been To Georgia on a Fast Train." Ely ended his show with "Workin' for the Man." This was Joe's first appearance at City Limits, but owner V.W. Stephens says that the are definitely going to try and get him back as soon as possible. Look for the ever-touring Joe Ely to be playing around the hill country soon.
